Throughout Year 8 students build upon key skills in Year 7 by developing colour theory focusing on mark
making and texture. Students demonstrate understanding in a cultural based project studying India by
experimenting with a range of printing techniques including lino, mono, screen and collograph as well as
reflecting upon contextual studies. Students also continue to develop their observational drawing skills
focusing on tone within still life introducing key skills in creating pattern with the opportunity to concentrate
on animals and/or marine life. Towards the end of Year 8 students consolidate these skills in an abstract
final outcome where students can also develop textile skills in applique, mola and batik silk painting.
Throughout the year students will complete formal drawing assessments working up a pyramid of skills
